About:

The Water Division supplies and distributes potable drinking water to the residents and businesses located within Avon.  The Water Division oversees both public and private water construction activities that connect to our municipal water supply.  We operate and maintain 42 miles of water main, 457 fire hydrants, two water storage standpipes, eight pumping stations, three water treatment plants, one water filtration plant and one garage facility.

The water treatment plants disinfect and raise the pH of the groundwater after being pumped from groundwater wells.  The disinfection process is chlorination, and the pH adjustment process is performed through the addition of potassium hydroxide.  In 2008, a second water treatment process was performed, when the water filtration plant was completed.  The filtration plant removes iron and manganese from the groundwater.

  • Water meter reading & billing, blackflow testing & billing, investigation of high water bills.
