  1. Upon providing proof of current residence, and a photo ID, library users may apply for a Library card. This library card, if in good standing, may be used in certified libraries statewide. For further information please call the Avon Public Library 508-583-0378.
  2. The parent or guardian will sign a statement of financial responsibility for users under 15 years of age.
  3. Users whose overdue fines exceed $5.00 will be blocked from checking out materials.
  4. Patrons may borrow 1 item without their Library card, provided valid identification is shown.
  5. Patrons who return items with missing and/or damaged parts may be charged a $5.00 processing fee per item if the item is repairable.  If not, the replacement cost of the item will be charged.

Extended Policies

Inclement Weather Closing Policy

The library may close (or delay opening) when weather conditions make travel dangerous. The deciding factor will be the safety of library patrons and staff.  The Avon Town Hall, Avon Police and Department of Public Works will be called upon for advice concerning road conditions.
If the Library is going to be closed or opening delayed, there will be an announcement via the town Code Red.  There will also be announcements on radio
and tv stations.

The Library follows the Avon Town Hall, not the Avon Schools, in being open or closed.

If a weather related closing in necessary, the library’s website calendar, and social media will be updated, if possible, and the appropriate Town departments will be notified.
In the event of an early emergency closing, all library users must leave the building as quickly as possible at the direction of the library staff.

Food in the Library Policy

There is no food allowed in the Avon Public Library.
The exceptions are Library events and/or programs.
Covered drinks are allowed.
There is no food or drink allowed in the computer area.
