Central Street Roadway Improvement Project

The Town of Avon will be reconstructing Central Street from the Avon/ Stoughton town line to the intersection of Central Street and South Street. The  project includes road reconstruction, and constructing a new asphalt sidewalk/ multi-use path. Work will commence within the next week or two. Construction crews will begin working on drainage improvements and tree removal at various locations along the edge of road from  Lane closures and traffic detours will be set up during phases of this work. Central Street Construction – 6/16

TL Edwards will will be installing top coat of asphalt on Central Street on 6/16. Please expect delays detours.

Central Street Construction – Week 5/10 – 5/14

T.L. Edwards will be continuing granite curb installation along Central Street heading south towards South Street. Once this section of curbing is complete, crews will begin installing additional granite curbing beginning near #200 Central Street and heading north towards the northerly Avon/ Stoughton town line. Following the granite curb installation work crews will begin grading the sidewalk areas. Residents should expect some minor delays. Police details will accompany work crews. Detours are not expected during this phase of work. If detours are necessary, detour signage and police will direct commuters, residents will be allowed through the work zone to access their homes. Central Street Construction – Week 4/26 – 4/30

Sub-contractor Murray Paving & Reclamation, Inc. will begin pulverizing/ reclaiming the roadway beginning at the Central Street/ South Street intersection moving north towards the northerly Avon/ Stoughton town line. Pulverizing and regrading of the roadway will tentatively take all of this week. T. L. Edwards plans to relocate certain fire hydrants in various locations along the road. Residents should expect some minor delays. Police details will accompany work crews.

Northbound traffic on Central Street will be open, traffic will not be detoured down South Street, unless necessary during pulverizing. Southbound traffic from Dykeman Way/ Harrison Boulevard should seek alternate routes, delays are expected. Only residents will be permitted.

Central Street Construction – Week 4/19 – 4/23
 
There will be no work on Monday (4/19), due to the Holiday weekend. T.L. Edwards will be continuing drainage work beginning on Tuesday (4/20) between 230 and 340 Central Street and is expected to finish the drainage by mid-week. Following completion of the drainage, work crews will be touching up the roadway edges in preparation of the roadway reclamation and sidewalk work. Residents should expect some minor delays. Police details will accompany work crews.
Detour Information:
Northbound traffic on Central Street will be open, traffic will not be detoured down South Street.
Southbound traffic from Dykeman Way/ Harrison Boulevard should seek alternate routes, delays are expected. Only residents will be permitted.

T.L. Edwards will be installing work zone/ construction signs on Monday. No excavation in the roadway is anticipated this coming week. Crews will be cutting and removing trees along the roadway and inspecting drainage structures from the northerly Avon/ Stoughton town line working south to the intersection of Central Street and South Street. Police details will accompany work crews and no detours are anticipated at this time. Residents should expect some minor delays. Should excavation be required for drainage and/or stump removal, detours will be posted to this page, if necessary, prior to the work beginning.
